Indoor Plants

It has been suggested that more than six live indoor plants are associated with significantly elevated levels of indoor molds. Dust mites of 11 species from five different genera may be found indoors. The highest levels are often found in mattresses and pillows, within house dust, and within ventilation systems. Optimum mite growth is seen in climates with average daily temperature between 22-26 degrees Centigrade (72-78 Fahrenheit) and 75+% humidity. Humidity below 50% prevents mite reproduction and reduces mold growth.
