  • FUNDING FOR TWO PROJECTS TO REDUCE AIR POLLUTION IN INDIA

United States awarded two grants to two Indian organizations on Monday,8th November,2004 totalling US$230,000 (euro 178,905) for programs to replace traditional cooking devices and reduce indoor air pollution.

  • SOLAR ENERGY IN HILLY AREAS ON THUAMUL RAMPUR AND LANJIGARH,


The Indian villages in the hilly tracts of the Thuamul Rampur and Lanjigarh blocks off this disrtict are due to receive solar power thanks to the authorities of the Indian Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA).

  • RELIEF FOR BIO-GAS PLANTS IN INDIA

While the Indian government has increased LPG prices, the ministry of non-conventional energy resources is offering some relief to people in the rural areas by increasing the subsidy on bio-gas cooking plants from 30 November.

  • FRIENDLY APPROPRIATE SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES (FAST)

FAST has initiated solar cooking, drying and water pasteurization programs, and solar Photo-Voltaic programs in Nepal, Mongolia, Peru, India, USA and The Netherlands. An investigation to develop solar cooking programs in Bolivia has started recently. Read more about FAST on their website.
