The fund, amounting to R51 million (+/ $ 8 000000), is a partnership between Shell Foundation, ABSA Bank, the European Union (through a Risk Capital Facility co-managed by the Industrial Development Corporation) and RAPS Finance.

To invest capital, skills and knowledge in viable SMME's in the modern energy sector. While adopting a business-based approach, the Fund has a strong development focus and only SMME's that will be supported are those compliant with the government's Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) guidelines.

Term loans, convertible loans, equity and quasi-equity.

The investment focus has a strong development approach with a Black Economic Empowerment focus in South Africa. Additionally, the investment activity will result in social, economic and/or environmental advantages.
