Barriers To Dissemination Of Renewable Energy Technologies For Cooking.
by Shaikh Abdul Quadir, S.S. Mathur and Tara Chandra Kandpal Centre for Energy Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi 110 016, India.
In this paper, the authors have discussed the barriers to the dissemination of renewable energy technologies in the year 1985. They have discussed in detail about the social and economic factors which were a hurdle to the adoption of biogas as fuel option, solar cookers as an alternate stove and even the improved biomass stove. 12 years after the publication of the paper some of problems are still existing. It is interesting to quantify the steps we have taken as a community to overcome some of these barriers and hurdles we still have to overcome to bring about a large- scale acceptance of these cooking stoves and fuel options and other renewable energy technologies.
