'Child Welfare Scheme' charity chosen for UK national radio appeal.

The UK-registered charity 'Child Welfare Scheme' was chosen to be part of a UK national radio appeal at the beginning of April. The charity provides health and education to children in Nepal and has an established improved cookstove project. The UK-registered charity 'Child Welfare Scheme' (www.childwelfarescheme.org) was chosen to be part of the UK BBC Radio 4 Charity Appeal on the 1st and 5th of April. This was presented by the leading British and Oscar-winning actor, Jeremy Irons. The charity operates in Nepal, providing health, education and other essential services for young children in mountain villages, as well as vocational training and primary health care services for youths living on the streets of Pokhara, one of Nepal's towns. Child Welfare Scheme has developed a vocational training centre, a new health clinic in Pokhara, providing essential primary health services for the poor, and ten 'day care health centres' for the under 6's in remote mountain villages. | |
