The theme for the next issue of Boiling Point is ‘Effective Monitoring and Evaluation of household energy projects’, and we are currently looking for article submissions.

We hope you have received the recent edition of Boiling Point 54 and please do give us some feedback on it!

We are busy on the next issue of Boiling Point and have decided to make a few changes to the content and format. The objective is still the same though - disseminating accessible information and knowledge on household energy to practitioners, researchers and policy makers worldwide.

The theme for the next issue of Boiling Point is 'Effective Monitoring and Evaluation of household energy projects'- a topic that is crucial and fundamental to all household projects and programmes in order to measure its success, whether in technical, social, economic, environmental or political terms, so that lessons can be learnt from the monitoring and evaluation results and so improve future interventions.

This issue will consist of theme articles on the topic of M&E, a themed case study with responses from a range of stakeholders, toolkits on M&E that are practical and relevant, plus general articles on topics and discussions related to household energy and the usual news and development from HEDON, GTZ, Practical Action and other organisations.

We are looking for articles both on the monitoring and evaluation theme and more generally on relevant and practical issues in the household energy world! Feature articles can address any issues or stages of programme M&E (design, implementation, field realities, sales, policy etc). General articles can include project/programme updates, technical papers, book/report reviews, conference/workshop reports etc The more technology based articles should be focussed on the real life application of proven technologies. If in doubt please contact the editor.

So if you think you have something to contribute:

  • We'd like to have an initial response from you by Friday 22nd February, to include an indication of your availability over the coming weeks and a short summary (100-150 words)
  • Soon after this date we will let selected authors know and send out author guidelines- these are also available here
  • The deadline for the submission of articles is THURSDAY 20th MARCH and we will need to have seen a draft version before this date.
The articles should be no more than 1500 words in length (approx. 3 A4 sides of 12pt Times New Roman in MS Word). In addition, authors should also complete the short form in the guidelines.

Please send all submissions and enquiries to boilingpoint@...

We look forward to your contribution!
