Kick starting Africa’s carbon markets

The 3rd Annual Carbon Markets Africa conference will showcase the
current CDM business opportunities in Africa and will look to establish
Africa’s path to generating a robust and sizeable carbon market. The
event will create a platform for CDM project hosts to interact with the
key players in the carbon markets value chain to deliver a progressive
plan of action for a potentially substantial carbon market. In the global
sphere, Africa is underrepresented in the generation of CERs, it has
fallen behind the overwhelming dominant CDM project leader, Asia.
According to the UNFCCC, the continent has less than 3% of CDM
projects across the globe, with international negotiations gathering
pace, Africa needs to take ownership of the future of its carbon market.

Carbon Markets Africa 2009 is well placed to
lead discussions pre-COP15 and will offer delegates and speakers alike
an international stage to debate what Africa will bring to the
Copenhagen negotiations.

This is a must-attend for those in need of an update on the current
state of CDM and voluntary market opportunities in Africa and a chance
to quiz the experts holding the answers to Africa’s future in the global
carbon markets.
