Rationale / Objective

The one-day workshop will provide a forum for discussion on sustainability and climate change mitigation objectives of bioenergy and biofuels in particular, in view of the regulatory approaches to reduce Indirect Land Use Changes effects recently proposed by the EU Commission and those already implemented in US legislation.

This workshop will bring together global experts from regulatory bodies, scientists and stakeholder from EU, US, Brazil, Malaysia, China etc.

Morning Session:

How can policy makers guide Europe towards a sustainable bioenergy solution?

The objective of this session is to get EU and world governmental regulatory bodies perspective on the debate about the use of agricultural crop for fuel or food/feed, and the environmental impacts and protection measurements taken by each Country.

Presentations will be followed by a debate guided by a moderator.

Afternoon Session:

How can science-based evidence provide a solution to the bioenergy challenge?

The objective of this session is provide world recognized experts in the field the opportunity to give updates on scientific progresses in monitoring and quantifying the effects of intensification of agriculture and increased land demand.
