90% of Africa's primary energy supply is from woodfuel. This is the result of a lack of modern energy services which leads to environmental impact through deforestation and the resulting soil degradation, where the deforestation rate in Africa is twice the world's rate. The new charcoal briquette project aims to facilitate the modern charcoal industry in Tanzania in order to promote the sustainable use of biomass waste through the production of charcoal briquettes.
