Placement in Mozambique (For Immediate Departure!)

A four-month placement on micro-irrigation technologies with International Development Enterprises based in Maputo, with extensive travel. Applications by email.

Period: Immediately to year end 2010.

Experience required: This work will require knowledge of micro-irrigation technologies, their installation and use.

Description: This work will provide IDE an assessment of preselected geographical areas, to identify the highest potential areas for the use of micro-irrigation technologies, and the potential to achieve scale. The placement volunteer will work in conjunction with a range of other specialists including market/value chain assessment, GIS, Natural Resources Management and others.

Volunteer with Engineers Against Poverty

Engineers Against Poverty (EAP) is looking for a volunteer with a minimum time commitment of half a day a week for six months, and immediate start.

EAP is a specialist NGO working in the field of engineering and international development. They work with industry, government and civil society to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development. EWB-UK partners with them on a number of activities around education and the engineering industry.

Small Is... Festival

Date: 4-5 September

Location: Practical Action Headquarters, Rugby

The Small is… Festival is a celebration and evolution of the ideas of Small is Beautiful. It will be held in the beautiful grounds of the international development charity Practical Action, in the Warwickshire countryside.

The event, organised by Practical Action and Engineers Without Borders UK, provides a space to share skills, learn about technologies, create networks, develop ideas and to be inspired about international development and the planet.
