VENUE

Nuku’alofa, Tonga

DATES

24-28 May 2010

The workshop is being organised by PIGGAREP (the Pacific Islands Greenhouse Gas Abatement through Renewable Energy Programme). PIGGAREP is funded by UNDP and the GEF. Attached is the invitation circular from PREP (Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme).

RescoManager is an open source and web based software application for the management of the technical, financial and logistical aspects of rural electrification projects. The programming has been funded by EuropeAid, UNDP and GEF. Version 2 has been operating in Kiribati since 2005, and it is currently managing 2,192 solar systems spread in the 18 outre islands of the Gilbert atoll. Version 3 will be release in July 2010, and before it's released, the current beta version 3 will be presented to major Pacific stakeholders. The software can be implemented licence free by any community/RESCO/Power utility or Government department for managing large scale rural electrification projects based on renewable energy.

The workshop is open to any participants and it is free. Participants will need to pay for their own travel and accommodation. We believe that thanks to RescoManager we have made rural electrification easy, and more environmentally friendly. This is why we encourage HEDON to announce both the workshop, and the existence of this software application.
