Junior Energy Consultant
12 month contract
Salary: £15,000 pa. – Based in Warwickshire


Practical Action Consulting are looking for a suitably qualified individual to join a technical team responsible for winning and delivering high quality technical consultancy in the international energy and development sector (and associated areas, such as climate change mitigation and adaptation), thus contributing to the strategic impact of PAC and its role within the Practical Action Group.

This will involve contributing to the achievement of their business strategy by undertaking work in the energy and development (and associated) sectors within PAC UK’s target areas of West Africa and geographies surrounding Practical Action country and regional offices, acting as technical resource on ongoing projects, with responsibility for technical research and analysis, partner co-ordination/facilitation and production of reports/knowledge products. The successful candidate will also assist PAC staff in winning new work with international donors and commercial organisations by supporting proposal development activities, developing and maintaining networks in the donor, international agency, NGO, consulting, academic and engineering sectors.

Candidates must have a good undergraduate degree in engineering, economics or other technical discipline. Further training courses in topics relating to international development would be an advantage, as would experience in developing countries. You must have excellent communication skills across cultures, including proven technical writing and presentation/communication skills. You must have fluent written and spoken English, while French and Spanish would be advantageous.
