CHF International is seeking a Project Manager for an 18 pilot project to reduce
indoor air pollution and fuel consumption through use of Improved Cook Stoves (ICS)
in HIV affected households in Rwanda. The PM should be an adaptable self-starter
with clear project management ability and a strong interest in sustainability.

As the team leader, s/he will provide guidance, leadership and technical support to
other members of the project staff; provide overall guidance for the project
activities at the regional and national level; develop strategic and operational
plans and liaise with government institutions.


  • Masters degree or equivalent work experience in the field of rural development, agro-economy, or renewable energy.
  • 5 – 7 years relevant work experience.
  • Skills in biomass energy technology and conservation including improved cook stoves technology transfer and training of producers and end users.
  • Experience in marketing and promotion of low cost, appropriate rural technologies a plus.
  • A track record of team work and ability to produce high-quality results and outputs with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Rwanda is an advantage
  • Proven track record in one or more of the following areas: development and management of rural development projects, demand side management including improved cookstove programs; rural marketing and business development support; behavior change around household energy use/practices; training and coaching.
  • Topical knowledge of improved cookstoves / renewable energy / rural technology dissemination approaches.
  • Rwandan citizens are encouraged to apply
  • Understanding of USAID/State Department regulations is needed
