SweetFuel intends to develop bio-ethanol production in temperate and semi arid regions from sweet sorghum through genetic enhancement and improvement of cultural and harvest practices.

The main objective of SWEETFUEL is to exploit the advantages of sweet sorghum as potential energy crop through:
  • Development of bioethanol production from sweet sorghum in temperate and semi-arid regions through genetic enhancement
  • Improvement of cultural and harvest practices for optimized yields

The SWEETFUEL partnership comprises 10 partners from research, academia and industry based in Europe, India, Brazil, South Africa and Mexico.
The partners of SWEETFUEL are CIRAD (France, Coordinator), ICRISAT (India), EMBRAPA (Brazil), KWS (Germany), IFEU (Germany), UNIBO (Italy), UCSC (Italy), ARC (South Africa), UANL (Mexico), and WIP (Germany).
