[top] [end]Who Am I?

I am a consultant with the carbon trading firm EcoSecurities Ltd (see www.ecosecurities.com) specialising in small scale household level projects, particularly those involving biomass energy (including Improved Cooking Stove and Biogas projects). I have recently completed a period of research into cooking stove CDM projects at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford.

EcoSecurities was founded in 1997 by experts in the field of emissions trading and greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting. Since then, EcoSecurities has grown to be the largest dedicated carbon trading and advisory firm in the world. EcoSecurities has structured a number of biomass energy Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects, including the Biogas Support Programme in Nepal, involving more than 100,000 biogas digesters nationwide. As part of this ongoing work into biomass and CDM, I am researching methodologies and procedures for develoiping cooking stove and other biomass energy projects under the small scale and large scale procedures of the CDM.

[top] [end]Other Household Energy Experience

In 2004 I completed a research study on Improved Cooking Stoves and the Clean Development Mechanism, which formed part of my MSc course at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), University of Oxford. This was followed by a period as a researcher with the Energy in Developing Countries Programme at the ECI concerned with household cooking and greenhouse gas emissions.

This research was concerned with how projects to disseminate improved cooking stoves could be promoted under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). The CDM could potentially help finance efficient stove projects in many countries. Research into this topic is ongoing. Please contact me on jonathan@... if you have interests in this field, or are interested in developing household-level CDM projects.

I have also carried out consultancy services for Climate Care on household energy development projects in Bangladesh and India, including a Biogas project in Ranthambore National Park, India, a finalist project at the 2004 Ashden Awards for renewable energy.
