Teaching Medical Students

amh5@...

I am a special study module leader at Leicester Medical School (UK) for the Health and Development SSM. One of my colleagues, a consultant paediatrician and senior lecturer, has taught a session on the impact of indoor air pollution from use of biomass fuels on health as he is researching this topic on a collaborative basis with colleagues in Gondar Ethiopia.

I am interested in extending the current session of 60 minutes into a half day, which will include student presentations of answers to questions set the previous week. I would like the session to consider not just how and why women and children are exposed to smoke in homes, but also some of the potential solutions and the difficulties in getting them adopted in developing countries.

The module is developed in conjunction with Skillshare International

http://www.skillshare.org/

We aim to develop successful teaching sessions into packs that can then be used by others who wish to teach on the topic.

At this stage I am looking for someone who might be interested in collaborating on developing such a session, and possibly teaching on it. The budget is very small, but we can pay travel expenses and a seminar fee.

I would be interested to hear from anyone wishing to collaborate with us,

Adrian Hastings
