Centro de Investigaciones en Ecosistemas, UNAM, Mexico

The Centro de Investigaciones en Ecosistemas, UNAM (CIECO-UNAM) has extensive expertise on the analysis of policy, environmental and health implications of rural energy use, as well as on the ecological and resource-oriented aspects of fuelwood management and use.

The CIECO is also the leading research Institution on small-scale bioenergy within Mexico. The CIECO also coordinates the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory - reported to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change - in the chapters associated to forestry and land use change and bioenergy.

CIECO-UNAM is working together with GIRA Mexico on a cookstove project supported by the Shell Foundation entitled Promoting clean multiple-fuel cooking for improved rural livelihoods in Latin America
