Energy and health: One role for energy?Good or basic health depends on various inputs including health information, adequate time and resources for child and self care and nutrition, healthy indoor and outdoor environments, availability of medicines and adequate health care facilities among others. On the other hand, energy drives most functions vital for human survival and development. Energy exploitation interacts with the environment and various socio-economic factors to affect health negatively or positively. The use of low quality, traditional fuels for example is closely linked to respiratory infections, adversely affecting women and children, due to their gender roles. Modern energy services and technologies on the other hand can increase the range and improve the quality of services offered in health care facilities. The use of manpower on the other hand, can take up time for women and men, reducing time for self care and conflicting with health care needs such as ante and post natal health care seeking.Authors / contributers wanted!
