HEDON Subscribers of the MonthEvery month, HEDON features in its newsletter the work of one of its Subscribers. With over 600 of us out there, it can sometimes be difficult to learn about and keep track of all the amazing work being done by the individual members of the community. Hopefully, these features bring us all a little bit closer, and foster the connections and communication that are so vital to our network. Enjoy![top] [end]2006September: Anil Kumar Raut, in Nepal Want to be inspired? Then be sure to read about Anil Kumar Raut and his efforts to tap world markets for carbon to ensure clean, renewable energy is affordable for all Nepalese. You’ll quickly understand why he is our HEDON Subscriber of the Month. Her methods have paid off, with real benefits being felt by those households she has worked with. To learn more about Dr. Dutta and her work, visit: http://www.hedon.info/goto.php/view/750/news.htm June: Robert Flanagan, S.A.F.F.E., in China In HEDON's first feature article on the amazing work of our subscribers, we look at the dedicated efforts of Robert Flanagan, who has committed himself to transforming international scientific research on soil, agriculture, and renewable energy into a workable system, first, for farmers in China, and then, the world. This arrangement, itself utilizing ancient soil practices in Brazil, is based on the science of converting biomass into bio-fuels and nutrient-rich high-carbon fertilizer, allowing for the soil on which bio-energy crops are grown to not only be restored, but actually improved given the unique make-up of the resultant fertilizer. Better yet, the process is both carbon negative and applicable the world over.
