[top] [end]NEW INITIATIVES AT HEDON - REGIONAL GROUPS AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS

  • SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are thematic groups of HEDON subscribers whose goal is to create strong communities of practice, build skills, and connect people.

The first to launch, Carbon SIG, is tasked with discussing all things related to climate change and household energy.

  • REGIONAL GROUPS: FIRST ONE TO LAUNCH IN LONDON ON SEPTEMBER 6 -


Regional Groups are location-based groupings of HEDON members whose aim is to connect people while also promoting increased and more effective cooperation between individuals working in key household energy sectors.

The first group to launch is the London Group, whose initial gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 6.

  • WORLD BANK EXCEEDS COMMITMENTS TO RENEWABLE ENERGY BY 48


The World Bank claims to have exceeded its commitments from 2005 on new renewable energy & energy efficiency projects by 48 percent. The total amount of funds committed in 2006 was USD 871 million, according to the newly released data.

  • GLOBAL INDOOR AIR POLLUTION DATABASE

This Access database on indoor air pollution, commissioned by WHO and developed by researchers at the University of California at Berkeley, aims to provide the scientific community with an overview of measured household indoor air pollution levels in about 250 communities around the world. Researchers can review and analyze findings within and across studies, and can either query the database directly or export the files into a statistical programme for in-depth analysis.
