GTZ-HERA[top] [end]Organization profile [top] [end]Goals/aimsWithin the household energy sector, GTZ has been supporting the development and dissemination of energy-efficient stoves for about 25 years now. In this time around 1,5 Million stoves have been disseminated.GTZ HERA is the current household energy programme. HERA began in December 2003 and will run until 2008. Its aim is to further develop and disseminate strategies and concepts for scaling up basic energy supply and to incorporate these plans into projects and programmes of German development organisations and other partners. HERA has a coordinating role, to improve exchange information and knowledge between the GTZ household energy projects. In terms of scaling up, the projects are provided with technical advice on the technology, trainings, marketing campagnes, monitoring and evaluation. HERA is furthermore lobbying the topic household energy at national and international level, eg. by contributing to events such as CSD14&15. It provides knowledge management and strengthens the regional (Southern Africa, Westafrica, Eastafrica, Latin America, Asia) and worldwide household energy network.
