The WHO website now contains several new items on cooking and heating practices, indoor air pollution and CSD-15. National burden of disease due to indoor air pollutionThe national burden of disease due to indoor air pollution from solid fuel use was assessed for the year 2002. In addition to total deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) due to indoor air pollution, country-by-country estimates are also available for deaths due to acute lower respiratory infections (ALRI) among children as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer among adults.For more information please visit: http://www.who.int/indoorair/health_impacts/burden_national/en/index.html Click here (290 KB) to download the full assessment.Household energy and health at CSD 15Energy for sustainable development is the main theme of the 14th and 15th session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD). The Intergovernmental Preparatory Meeting (IPM) took place at the United Nations in New York from 26 February to 2 March 2007 at a technical level, deciding on policy recommendations for negotiations during CSD 15.
