A new report on indoor air pollution titled "Household Fuels and Ill-Health in Developing Countries: What improvements can be brought by LP Gas?" has been published by the World LP Gas Association.

The principal goal of this report is to explore the extent to which the substitution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LP Gas or LPG) as a household cooking fuel in developing countries can reduce the health burden associated with indoor air pollution and other problems associated with solid fuel use.

The co-authors Kirk R. Smith, Jamesine Rogers, and Shannon C. Cowlin of the School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley attempt not only to portray the hypothetical impacts of a complete shift from traditional fuels such as biomass fuels, dung, crop residues and wood to LPG, but also assess the feasibility of promoting such shifts given past experiences.

The report has been endorsed by Practical Action. It is available for purchase at www.worldlpgas.com/publications
