US-based foundation to set up Rs 20,000-crore Integrated SolarCity. This could well be the world’s largest solar power project at a single location if all goes as planned.

The Clinton Foundation, founded by former US President Bill Clinton, has firmed up its plans to set up the world's largest solar park in Gujarat.

In a closed-door meeting, a delegation led by Clinton Foundation Chairman Ira Magaziner met Chief Minister Narendra Modi and other top government officials on Monday to discuss their plans to set up a 3,000-5,000 Mw solar park in the state.

"The Clinton Foundation is keen on signing an MoU for this project anytime next week. The investment for the project could be close to $10 billion, depending on the size of the project," a top government official, who was present at the meeting, said.

Business Standard had reported in August last year that the Clinton Foundation had initiated talks with the Gujarat government for what is being billed as the world's largest solar project.

The foundation has also initiated trials with The Energy and Resources Institute(TERI) and is looking for land in north Gujarat.
