Lesotho In early December, a film crew commissioned by Barclays Bank visited Lesotho film footage as part of an internal corporate social responsibility exercise. The team visited selected schools with the institutional lion stoves ordered by the WFP. more
ProBEC's Knowledge Management The winner of the knowledge management competition is Mr Chanda Mongo, national co-ordinator of Zambia for his paper: "The case for packaging business development services for the promotion of stove producers".
Second prize went to Ms Feziwe Hlatshwayo, national co-ordinator of Swaziland, for her paper "Gender mainstreaming in executing development projects".
Third prize is awarded to Ms Elizabeth Musonda, technical officer in Zambia, for her paper: "The necessity of addressing local communities of practice and harnessing their knowledge, especially isolated rural communities, as a powerful catalytic tool for stimulating community-driven developmental processes". more
Zambia Pulumusa training at copperbelt, ProBEC Zambia officers are currently undertaking a baseline study in the provinces with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Ministry of Education., Traning officer, Elizabeth Musonda, was featured in the local Monitor Weekly newspaper as 'Woman of the Week'. more
Malawi Basic Energy Strategy (BEST) has been accepted by the Ministry,MuREA, a community-based organisation, wil l take over ProBEC activities in Malawi when the programme closes. more

Capacity Building in Monitoring and Evaluation Between November 10th and 15th, monitoring and evaluation officers of ProBEC met in Johannesburg for "Review training" in results-based monitoring and evaluation under the tutelage of GTZ consultant M elanie Djedje. By workshop end all staff were much more confident about conducting M&E next year and were fully conversant with the concept and practice of Results Chain development. more
