The project

The EUEI Partnership Dialogue Facility is an instrument of the EU Energy Initiative (EUEI) and supports national governments and regional organisations in the development of policies for improved energy access. It also supports the work of the EUEI Secretariat (that is hosted by the European Commission), e.g. in the implementation of the Africa-Europe Energy Partnership through the funding and organisation of dialogue events as well as other services. EUEI PDF also conducts studies and events on policies for enhanced energy access and related subjects.

Your tasks

The position involves the identification, design and management of EUEI PDF projects including procurement of consulting services, negotiations with counterparts as well as monitoring and evaluation. The project manager shall work closely with the staff of the EUEI Secretariat and other relevant institutions of the European Commission and represent EUEI PDF in international fora. The position involves frequent travel to the partner countries of the EUEI PDF and to Brussels. Since the EUEI PDF management unit may be (partly) transferred to Brussels, the applicant should be ready to be based in Brussels.

Your qualifications

  • Advanced degree in engineering, energy economics, political science or development studies
  • Minimum of five years work experience in energy and development, preferably with sub-Saharan Africa; this should include field experience and experience with energy policy projects
  • Experience in the cooperation with EU institutions
  • Excellent management, negotiation, organisation and communication skills
  • Fluency in English and French, Spanish is an advantage
